If it's too cold for us, it's to cold for them

We love our fur babies and want the best for them, that includes fresh air and exercise. The joy and excitement their little faces beam when the see us with their leash, or in my babies case that happy tail that shakes their whole bodies. We never want the joy the bring to our lives to end, so let's keep them as happy and healthy as possible for as long as possible.

The temperatures are plummetting and winds are whipping. Many feel the fur coats of our cats and dogs will protect them, but that is not the case. Although temperature tolerances are different for every animal they are suseptible to frostbite and hypothermia. A good rule of thumb is if it is too cold for us it is simply too cold for them.

If they much be outside, make sure they have a warm place to go that is out of the wind. They will also need a higher calorie diet to help their bodies produce heat and access to unfrozen water. As is true of our two legged children, keep all poisonous items out of reach – antifreeze tastes like kool-aid!

Stay warm and keep all your fur babies safe!
